Best Cities for Travellers (2003)
UK tourist-oriented magazine Condé Nast Traveller published in 2003 a top with the best cities in the world based on the index of satisfaction with travel facilities and services. The top spot was taken by the capital city of Italy, Rome, followed closely by Paris (France) and Sydney (Australia).
Readers of the magazine have been asked to choose the best that the travel world had to offer, everything from hotels and spas to airlines and airports. They rated their choices according to various criteria, such as service and value for money.
1. Rome
Rome was voted Best Overseas City in The Readers’ Travel Awards 2003, and Italy’s Best City. The eternal city has been attracting visitors for two millennia but it is still one of the most exhilarating and romantic destinations in the world.
2. Paris
Paris is home of great food and boasts a plethora of restaurants, with a small centre ideal for visiting on foot, with famous landmark, a cosy café, a smart boutique or a busy boulevard at every turn. It still deserves its reputation as the most romantic city in the world.
3. Sydney
Sydney is the cosmopolitan capital of New South Wales, with food to rival any in the world. At the forefront of cutting-edge design, with chic hotels and excellent restaurants, Sydney is laid-back, vibrant and gorgeous.
