Best Cities of New Zealand
New Zealand is actually a country distributed on two main islands: the North Island and the South Island, plus other numerous smaller islands. At 2000 km southeast of Australia across the Tasman Sea, New Zealand is notable for its geographic isolation.
The indigenous Māori are the largest minority, most of the population being of European descent. New Zealand is a wealthy country, with economy focused on agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and film industry.
Auckland
Located in the northern half of the North Island, Auckland is the largest city of New Zealand and in Polynesia as well. For some Polynesian nations, there may be more expatriates living in Auckland than in their homeland. This rich cultural mix is celebrated at festivals and sporting matches. Roads frequently become heavily congested and driving standards can be poor. While Auckland depend so much on car driving, some tourists may get frustrated and it may be more prudent to hire a car if you wish to do a lot of cross city travel though. Auckland is home to many established and up-and-coming local designers.
Wellington
The recent movie production of “Lord of the Rings” has brought an economic boom in the city. Wellington is the cosmopolitan capital of New Zealand, where the film was produced. The city has a pretty setting, vibrant arts scene, friendly culture and a great national museum. The weather in Wellington can be unpredictable, but generally the best months to travel are in the summer, from November to the end of March. For a lot of sun and not too much rain. Winters may be cold and wet. Wellington is also prone to be windy at any time of year.
