Best of GenevaIf you are looking for some peace and quiet, an idyllic spot to relax and unwind, come to Geneva, a city of parks. Here are some of the most beautiful and functional parks in the city, most of them with jogging and cycling trails, picnic sites, and large, open areas for throwing a Frisbee or walking your dog.

Visitors of the Conservatoire et Jardin Botaniques can see an exotic hothouse, a deer park, a small zoo area, an arboretum with trees that are over 300 years old as well as a rose garden.

Overlooking the quai Général-Guisan, the Jardin Anglais is a nice spot for a leisurely stroll, with terrace areas that provide a stunning view of the harbor. The Promenade des Bastions offers a walk along the city’s original fortification walls.

La Perle du Lac is part of a series of three landscaped parks. The park offers scenic views of the Mont-Blanc and the city and features an intimate restaurant that sits in an enclosed pavilion. Connected with La Perle du Lac is the Parc Mon Repos, which also provides idyllic views of the city, planned walkways and lush greenery, as well as several elegant mansions. The third park from this series is Parc Villa Barton, with scenic views and pleasant walkways as well. There are a number of elegant mansion homes that may also be admired.

Located next to the Parc des Eaux-Vives, the extremely popular Parc de la Grange features an 18th century mansion and is located next to the lake. Best time to visit this charming rose garden is June, since that is the peak of rose season.
