1. ZurichBased on the top found on the travel-oriented website TravBuddy, it looks like, from all cities of Switzerland, Zurich continues to attract most tourists in this beautiful country, followed by the cities of Geneva and Lucerne. While there is no surprise Zurich and Geneva continue to take top spots in various surveys, it is a well-deserved third place for the wonderfull Lucerne, as well as other great cities from this country which are not regularly mentioned in worldwide surveys.

The top results have been determined based on travel blogs, travel reviews, travel photos and number of TravBuddies (registered users/commentators on TravBuddy) who have visited each destination.

1. Zurich

Zurich lies in northern Switzerland, and while it might not be the capital of the country, it is perhaps the main important transport hub, and also a city that has become synonymous with that most impressive display of conspicuous wealth, the famous Swiss Bank Account. Zurich is not just about money. The city has a relaxed and easy going ambience, with plenty of bars to unwind in, and a good nightlife to enjoy. The city is also famous for the variety and quality of chocolate available. It is the home of several luxury brands, including Lindt. When you visit Zurich you will find yourself constantly tempted to eat tonnes of the stuff.

2. Geneva

Geneva is the capital of French-speaking Switzerland (la Suisse romande) and one of the top world travel destinations. Relatively small, it is easy to explore on foot. Authorities are working hard at keeping car traffic to a minimum. This is a diverse city, with a charming medieval Old Town, a busy commercial district and handsome architecture. From the Mont-Blanc bridge in the evening, when the skyline of gracious, orderly stone buildings is reflected in the lakefront, Geneva’s charm is visible to all.

3. Lucerne

The picturesque 12th century city of Lucerne is situated about an hour south of Zurich. Lucerne (or Luzern) is long renowned as one of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations. Lucerne is on Switzerland’s main north-south train route. The city has direct fast train links to international airports in Basel, Zurich and Geneva, and rapid freeway links to most major European centres. The city is dripping with Swiss charm and tourists enjoy the city’s hotels and hospitality every year, tourism being an economic mainstay.
