Weather in Vancouver (BC, Canada)

Leave a comment » Published October 22nd, 2008

Weather in VancouverClimate of Vancouver is moderate oceanic. Because of the barrier formed of the mountains of Vancouver Island to the west, Vancouver has the warmest temperatures from all major Canadian cities.

Weather in Vancouver is said to be generally rainy. In fact, only half of the days in a year have measurable precipitation on average. Most of the days are still sunny or with measurable sunshine.

It rains more during the winter. It is not uncommon for there to be several consecutive days with some amount of rain, especially from November until March.

While Vancouver’s coastal location serves to moderate its temperatures, sea breezes and mountainous terrain make Greater Vancouver a region of micro-climates. Winters can be dark, as the sky during this time is often covered with low-altitude grey clouds.
