International organizations and media publications periodically come up with surveys and rankings for best cities in the world (or in a specific country), with the best quality of living. Or best cities to retire, best cities for business and careers, best cities for families, to rise their children. Or best cities for singles. Safest or healthiest cities…

For rankings with the best cities in the world, most well known organizations are Mercer Consulting (for cities with Best Quality of Life) and Economist Intelligence Unit (for Most Livable Cities). They publish reports once every year or every two years. Regional surveys for best US cities or for other countries are published by newspapers like Forbes, Money Magazine or Best Life Magazine…

We simply collect up to 100 top cities from all those rankings and present to you summary reports. You can find all these ranking by following the surveys tag. Or Worldwide Surveys, when it’s about international rankings, with cities in the worls. Or Regional Surveys, if it’s about cities in a specific country. We mostly look at surveys from US, Canada, Australia and other English-speaking countries.

Are those surveys always realistic? Well, find out by looking at the main attractions and other good points, in the Best Of article. People do not always agree with the surveys, and this is why we also created an alternative Worst Of article for each city, to let you know where the bad areas are located or what other people say about them.

Some cities come back again and again in these surveys. In many cases, several of these cities belong to the same countries, as it is the case for Switzerland, Canada, Australia or New Zeeland.
