AdelaideAdelaide is the largest city in South Australia and the capital of this state. It is however smaller than other southeastern Australian big cities, such as Melbourne or Sydney, where demographic expansion was bigger in the last decades. The fifth largest city in Australia, Adelaide has a population of more than 1 million people.

MelbourneMelbourne is the second most largest city in Australia, after Sydney. Its metropolitan area has a population of almost 4 million people, from a large number of cultures and with a rare diversity. Until Federal Parliament moved to the capital of Australia at Canberra, Melbourne served for a while as the federal seat of government.

PerthIn the state of Western Australia, Perth is the largest city and its capital, fourth Australian city by the number of its population, which consistently grows at a rate above the national average. It is known as one of the most isolated big cities in the world.

SydneySydney is today the largest and most dynamic city of Australia. Its metropolitan area is over 4 million people and still growing. Sydney is also the state capital of New South Wales. It was the first British colony in Australia, established in 1788 at Sydney Cove.
