LondonBased on the number of inhabitants with university degrees, number of international students at the tertiary level, international schools at the primary and secondary level, and top global universities located in the cities, the World’s Most Global Cities survey, presented by Foreign Policy Magazine, A.T. Kearney and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, finds London (United Kingdom) deserves the top spot, followed by a surprising Chicago (United States) and Tokyo (Japan).

While this kind of ratings may rise eyebrows, the combination of the factors considered by the surveys led to these results. Continue reading »

Best Cities for Cultural Experience (2008)

LondonBased only on the number of sporting events in the cities, international travelers, culinary offerings, museums and performing arts, the World’s Most Global Cities survey, presented by Foreign Policy Magazine, A.T. Kearney and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, keeps the same three cities on top 3, but London (United Kingdom) comes first this time, followed by Paris (France) and New York (United States).

World’s Most Global Cities (2008)

1. New YorkForeign Policy Magazine, the management consulting firm A.T. Kearney and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs teamed up to deliver rankings of Most Global Cities in the World. New York (United States) came out on top, followed by London (United Kingdom) and Paris (France).

What “global” means? A variety of metrics have been used for this concept, such as how well they fare in an increasingly competitive battle to attract and retain people, capital and ideas, and how simultaneous globalization and urbanization are affecting everything from international politics to corporate behavior.
