New Zealand is a country on two big islands: North Island (where the best city Auckland is located) and South Island. Wellington is just between these two islands. To cross the full 2,000 km from one extremity of the North Island to the opposite extremity of the South Island, it might take about 30 hours.

There are so many things to do and see in Auckland… Start with the Sky Tower, the highest building in the Southern Hemisphere, with a revolving restaurant at the top. Climb also to the top of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, well worth a look. Aotea Centre is a a multi-level theatre, a state of the art entertainment complex.

Located off the Tokatu Peninsula, Tawharanui Regional Park has snorkelling and camping, secluded beaches and fishing. The beautiful scenery of the area is great for picture taking. Continue reading »

In the northern half of the North Island of New Zealand, Auckland is also known as the “City of Sails”. Its inhabitants’ passion for boats made that, on fine summer days, the Hauraki Gulf is covered with sailing boats. Almost one household in four owns a boat.

Auckland lies on a narrow isthmus, between numerous volcanic cones, Manukau Harbour and Waitemata Harbour. The island of Rangitoto separates Waitemata Harbour from the Hauraki Gulf with its scattering of islands. Continue reading »
