Population of CanadaMetropolitan areas of Toronto (Ontario), Montreal (Quebec) and Vancouver (British Columbia) top the rankings of most populated urban agglomerations of Canada. Just looking at the map, it’s easy to remark the huge density of other highly populated areas in the South-Eastern Ontario, a well-developed economical and industrial corner between the Great Lakes.

Most Populated Agglomerations of Australia

Population of AustraliaMost populated metropolitan agglomerations of Australia are dominated by far by Sydney and Melbourne, each with over 3 million people. They are followed by three other major Australian urban areas, with population between one and two million people: Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. For Most Populated Cities of Australia, follow the link. Most notable difference is Sydney has way more suburbs, making a difference of almost one million people from the city itself and the metropolis.

Data was estimated in June 2007. With few exceptions (such as Perth or Adelaide), most agglomerations appear in the South-Eastern side of Australia. Continue reading »

Most Populated Cities of Australia

Population of AustraliaThe top 50 of most populated cities of Australia does not show notable positional changes on top when compared to the Most Populated Agglomerations of Canada rankings. We can remark of course the larger population living in suburbs around Sydney, when compared especially to Melbourne.

Australian Bureau of Statistics defines as “urban centres” population clusters of 1,000 or more people. The figures below represent the populations of the contiguous built-up areas of each city. Data is according to the 2006 Australian Census. Continue reading »
