AtlantaRepeating the 2006 experiment for Most Wired Cities in North America, Forbes Magazine ranked again 30 American cities, based on the broadband adoption (the percentage of home Internet users with high-speed connections), access options (the number of companies providing high-speed Internet access) and Wi-Fi (public wireless Internet hot spots per capita). Atlanta (Georgia) was awarded again the top spot, followed this time by Seattle (Washington) - on the third place two years ago - and Raleigh (North Carolina).

Orlando (Florida), the surprising second place in the last survey, moved on a tie for the fifth place with Baltimore (Maryland). Continue reading »

Most Wired US Cities (2006)

AtlantaForbes Magazine ranked 30 American cities based on the percentage of Internet users with high-speed access, the range of service providers within a city and the availability of public wireless hot spots. The 2006 survey for Most Wired Cities in the United States awarded Atlanta (Georgia) with the top spot, followed by Orlando (Florida) and Seattle (Washington).

Forbes started with the top markets in broadband adoption as determined by Internet market research firm Nielsen/NetRatings. They dropped cities that didn’t crack the U.S. Census Bureau’s top 100 list. They calculated service provider variety with the latest available statistics, and determined Wi-Fi hot spots per capita by public hot spot directory JiWire and population estimates. MiamiIf you were wondering where you can find the Most Attractive People in America, the 2008 America’s Favorite Cities survey, organized by Travel+Leisure Magazine and CNN Headline News, where more than 125,000 travelers voted for, may have an answer for you: in Miami! America’s Favorite Cities (2008)

1. BostonMore than 125,000 people (visitors and residents) voted for the 2008 America’s Favorite Cities survey, organized by Travel+Leisure Magazine and CNN Headline News. They asked their subscribers to rank the top US cities below in several categories, based on food and shopping, people, culture, nightlife, and other criteria. After four weeks, eliminatory rounds declared Boston as overall winner, which trounced San Francisco to win the 2008 title.

Rankings in specific categories, such as People, Type of Trip, Nightlife, Culture, Shopping, Food/Dining, Quality of Life & Overall Visitor Experience, Holiday Travel, will be separately presented. Continue reading »

Best US Cities for Tech Sales Jobs (2008)

1. San JoseSalesHQ provided a list, slideshow and descriptions of 30 Best Cities for Tech Sales Jobs. The well-known Californian high-tech oriented Silicon Valley close to San Jose comes on top, followed by Boulder (Colorado) and Huntsville (Alabama).

To avoid Silicon Valley’s high cost of living, consider as options other areas. Rankings is based on tech job density and include data on total jobs, growth in that total from 2005, average annual sales salary, and biggest sector in each city. Continue reading »
