Climate of Geneva is temperate continental, with microclimates, due to the fact the city is situated just 374 meters above sea level, close to the mountains. Summers are pleasantly warm to hot, and winters relatively mild, with temperatures hovering just above or below freezing. Winds from the West bring warmth, while the famous North Wind (the Bise) brings colder temperatures, though often sunny conditions.
