LondonBased only on the number of sporting events in the cities, international travelers, culinary offerings, museums and performing arts, the World’s Most Global Cities survey, presented by Foreign Policy Magazine, A.T. Kearney and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, keeps the same three cities on top 3, but London (United Kingdom) comes first this time, followed by Paris (France) and New York (United States).

World’s Most Global Cities (2008)

1. New YorkForeign Policy Magazine, the management consulting firm A.T. Kearney and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs teamed up to deliver rankings of Most Global Cities in the World. New York (United States) came out on top, followed by London (United Kingdom) and Paris (France).

What “global” means? A variety of metrics have been used for this concept, such as how well they fare in an increasingly competitive battle to attract and retain people, capital and ideas, and how simultaneous globalization and urbanization are affecting everything from international politics to corporate behavior. Best Cities for Travellers (2003)

1. RomeUK tourist-oriented magazine Condé Nast Traveller published in 2003 a top with the best cities in the world based on the index of satisfaction with travel facilities and services. The top spot was taken by the capital city of Italy, Rome, followed closely by Paris (France) and Sydney (Australia).

Readers of the magazine have been asked to choose the best that the travel world had to offer, everything from hotels and spas to airlines and airports. They rated their choices according to various criteria, such as service and value for money. Continue reading »

1. BangkokThe 2008 World’s Best Award of Travel+Leisure Magazine for World’s Best City went to Bangkok, followed by Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Cape Town (South Africa).

A questionnaire was made available online to subscribers. Respondents were required to rate hotels, islands, airlines, destination spas, and rental-car agencies. In another category, they were required to rate cities, cruise lines, tour operators and safari outfitters. Finally, a third category concerned the hotel spas. 1. Hong KongForbes Magazine publishes a top 10 of World’s Best Commutes, with world’s most reliable, cheap and efficient commutes. Top 3 cities in the world at this chapter are Hong Kong, Tokyo (Japan) and Chennai (India).

Data and research were supplied by a transportation professor, who measured the world’s largest cities based on the cost to the overall investment in improvements and the speed and safety with which workers are delivered to offices. The speed of transit contributes to a city’s economic competitiveness. Outsourcing capitals are heavily reliant on attracting informational technology companies. They do well in commuting due to the city’s high investment rate in projects like the highways and the mass transit rail system. Continue reading »
