Worst of Adelaide (Australia)

Worst of AdelaideSome might find living in Adelaide a bit boring. It’s a great city, but its relative isolation from the rest of the country and the distances, plus the increased migration of people to other big cities like Sydney, Melbourne or even Brisbane, may have left Adelaide behind. It was a time not long ago when Adelaide was indeed booming. Now, it was left behind by the other big Australian cities, including Perth.

The climate is another point of criticism, with dozens of days in a row at over 35 degrees, in a very dry heat. Continue reading »

Worst of Melbourne (Australia)

Worst of MelbourneThere is some kind of rivalry between people from Melbourne and Syndey, maybe because both cities experienced a huge economic boom and immigration these last couple of years.

Someone said Melbournians have no pride in their communities and neighborhoods. Because of the shocking amount of litter, graffiti, vandalism, and run down businesses. Some may be also surprised to see people going barefoot at the supermarket, in the mall and even at the airport. Continue reading »

Worst of PerthSome younger people may not like Perth so much because it is very isolated (the most isolated big Australian city, in the western corner of the country) and may look a but boring (not so many amusements, compared to other big Australian cities). Amazingly enough, they also love it for this lonely isolation, for its wonderful beaches and its calmness.

Worst of Toronto (ON, Canada)

Worst of TorontoToronto is often full of smog and pollution. Congestion and traffic are brutal. Most smog floats across the lake, especially during the summer. It may also look too busy, boring, dirty, and disorganized.

The weather may get very cold and windy, especially when the wind comes from the lake. Winter lasts for so long, like in most parts of Canada. Toronto may also seem too flat, with no specific charm, a cosmopolitan city that somehow lost its identity. Continue reading »

Worst of Sydney (Australia)

Worst of SydneySydney is a huge and relatively new city, with millions of people, cosmopolitan and diverse, which sometimes may seem “cold”. Some argue beside the Opera House and Harbour Bridge there are not too much other “world class” things to see. And the Opera House ended up costing the state millions more than they had been budgeted.

The city may even seem ugly, but the nice thing is that you can find really great spots not far away, like Milk Beach or Paddington. Continue reading »
